A Halloween night out in New York goes best when the practical parts are settled early: which night, which tickets, how you'll get there and what you'll wear. Here is a checklist for Halloween NYC 2026, which runs from Thursday, October 29 to Sunday, November 1, 2026.

1. Pick Your Night

Halloween falls on a Saturday in 2026, so the week spreads across four days, Thursday to Sunday, with six events. Our night-by-night weekend guide shows what's on each night, and Which NYC Halloween party is right for you? compares all six side by side.

Saturday is the busiest night in the city. If your group is flexible, Thursday, Friday or Sunday can be an easier night out.

2. Buy Through the Official Link

Every event page on this site has one ticket button, and it opens the official listing. Checkout happens on the ticket platform, not on this site, and each button says which platform it opens. Buying through that link is the simplest way to be sure the listing is the real one.

Transfer and refund options depend on the platform and the event terms. Check them in your ticket account, and see our Refund Policy before you buy.

3. Bring the Right ID

Every Halloween NYC 2026 event is 21+. Bring a valid government-issued photo ID, and keep it somewhere you can reach it without taking your costume apart.

4. Time Your Arrival

Check your ticket confirmation for arrival details, and leave time for ID checks, ticket scanning and security, which take longer on Halloween weekend than on a normal night out.

5. Plan the Trip Home

Most events run until 4 or 5 AM. Decide before you leave how you'll get home, and if you're in a group, agree on a meeting point in case phones die. New York's subway runs 24 hours, but late-night service is less frequent, so check your route in advance.

6. Dress for the Theme and the Weather

Each event has its own theme, from disco-afterlife to heaven and hell. Late-October nights can be cold, especially on a rooftop or by the water, so choose a costume that still works with a layer over it. Our what-to-wear guide has ideas for each event.
